Lake Walchsee, at the foot of the imposing Kaiser Mountains, is not only one of the most beautiful but also one of the warmest lakes in Tyrol. This makes it a popular bathing lake and a true flagship of the Kaiserwinkl region in the Tyrolean lowlands – in fact, Lake Walchsee was even immortalized with a blue wave in the village coat of arms of the municipality of the same name. Walschsee, where you can enjoy many sports on and around the lake. In the villages, there are beaches, restaurants, beer gardens, and overnight accommodations.

Directly behind the church is a large parking lot (fee applies, as is the case almost everywhere at Walchsee). From here, it's just a few steps to the village center. Alternatively, you can use the parking lot as a starting point for a walk to the "Schwemm" nature reserve, a moorland biotope.

The municipality of Walchsee in the Kufstein district, with a population of around 2,200, has developed into an up-and-coming and popular holiday destination in the Kaiserwinkl holiday region through tourism, road construction, and the initiative of its residents. Walchsee is therefore heavily influenced by tourism. In addition, the municipality has experienced significant settlement development in recent decades, concentrated not only in the main town but also in the surrounding hamlets.

The water flows from the lake via the approximately 500-meter-long Walchseebach stream on the eastern side into the Weißenbach stream. This stream, in turn, flows via the Kohlenbach stream into the Großache stream, which empties into Lake Chiemsee near Grabenstätt.

The Ramsbach is the most important tributary of Lake Walchsee. It rises in the Chiemgau Alps in Bavaria and flows into the lake at its northwestern end.
