The St. Elisabeth Chapel on the Schmittenhöhe was built in 1904 in honor of the Austrian Empress "Sisi." The small church stands directly at the summit and blends harmoniously into the mountain landscape. It is a quiet place of contemplation, offering a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Zell and the Hohe Tauern mountains.

At approximately 2,011 meters, the summit of the Schwalbenwand is one of the striking grassy mountains above Maishofen. From the summit, a magnificent panorama opens up over Lake Zell, the Hohe Tauern, and as far as the Steinernes Meer. It's a worthwhile destination for hikers, offering both natural beauty and panoramic views.

The Schwalbenwand Trail leads along scenic paths above Maishofen, combining a challenging hike with magnificent panoramas. Views of Lake Zell, the Hohe Tauern range, and the surrounding rolling grassy mountains open up time and again. A varied trail that perfectly combines the enjoyment of nature and mountain adventure.

At the Schwalbenwand summit cross, you'll reach one of the most beautiful vantage points above Maishofen. From here, the view extends far over Lake Zell, the Hohe Tauern, and all the way to the Kitzsteinhorn. The cross marks the highest point of the tour and invites you to take a well-deserved rest with a magnificent panorama.

The Sacred Heart Chapel is idyllically situated on the hillside above Zell am See and offers a peaceful sanctuary. Surrounded by trees, the small church blends harmoniously into the landscape. From here, you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the valley—an atmospheric place to pause for a moment of contemplation.

At an altitude of around 2,000 meters, a breathtaking view of Lake Zell opens up. The water shimmers far below, while the peaks of the Hohe Tauern rise all around – a panorama that defines the Schmittenhöhe's special charm.
