Glückstadt is highly recommended for a short break. There are fantastic hiking and cycling opportunities here. The town itself is beautiful and offers many attractions. The harbor area boasts a lively nightlife scene with a great view of the waterfront.

The street "Am Hafen" is considered the most important waterfront street in northern Germany. It lives from the varied play of its facades and the invigorating green dyke that separates the functional "residential" area from the commercial "harbor" area. The entire ensemble is a listed building.

In Itzehoe, the old railway line is well developed and wide - towards Hohenlockstedt the path becomes narrower and narrower and ends in a narrow, thin trail - wonderful!

The water tower, built in 1902, is a circular building with a height of 35.8 m. The shaft is made of bricks. The tower is only slightly wider in the tank area. This is because a Barkhausen tank was used instead of an Intze tank. This tank with a hemispherical tank base no longer requires a support ring and therefore represents progress. → More information on the tank shapes in the main article Water Tower The casing of the Kremper tank consists of a plastered iron frame that is clad with slate on the outside. It is topped off with a conical roof with a transmitting antenna on top.

The center of the town is the Renaissance town hall from 1570. The building was once decorated with a stepped gable and has a small roof turret. Inside are the council chamber and the large hall, both of which are richly decorated, as well as a large warehouse on the north side of the building. The town hall was extensively restored in 1990 and is one of the most beautiful historic town halls in the country. The market, which is almost completely surrounded by old buildings, is located around the town hall.
