Situated in the heart of Østmarka, Vangen Ski Lodge serves as a central hub for hikers and skiers exploring the surrounding wilderness. The lodge overlooks the tranquil waters of Lake Mosjøen and is renowned for its traditional wooden architecture and welcoming atmosphere.

Røverkollen is a 404-meter-high hill located on the border between Oslo and Nittedal municipalities, featuring a prominent TV mast and a concrete lookout tower. The area is ecologically valuable due to its unique limestone pine forest and diverse vegetation, and it includes old burial cairns and historical significance as a site linked to ancient road robbers; part of it has been protected as Røverkollen Nature Reserve since 1993.

The Lillestrøm Bicycle Highway (Sykkelstamveien) is one of Norway’s showcase cycling routes, built as a fast, direct commuter corridor linking Lillestrøm with Oslo. It’s wide, smooth and fully separated from traffic, making it both safe and stress-free.

Nestled in the forest above Nøklevann, Sarabråten was once the summer estate of Christiania’s 19th-century elite, hosted by timber baron Thorvald Meyer. Today, only a few ruins remain, but the place still carries a quiet grandeur, perfect for a reflective pause in the woods.

Skiforeningen's cabin in Østmarka. Open from 10am-3pm (4pm, weekends). Overnight stays only for groups and by reservation. Nearest parking is Bysetermosen (3.5 km).
