Hornebos Bivouac Area is located right along the Haspengouw Regional Nature Reserve (SGR). If you approach from the Walloon village of Oleye, you'll first walk for a while through the beautiful Hornebos forest. You'll pass a large water pumping station and a detached house, where you turn left onto a sunken paved road, Sterstraat. Hornebos Bivouac Area is located a little higher up on your left, past a wild bee garden and at the point where you leave Sterstraat. Hornebos Bivouac Area is situated in a large clearing with rather rough vegetation. Two tent platforms are leveled on the gently sloping ground. There is a compost toilet, but no water point. So, be sure to bring enough water in advance for drinking, cooking, and hygiene during your stay. Wood fires are prohibited; you may use a small stove. This bivouac area is exceptionally quiet, with virtually no ambient noise, except for the occasional bird song in the mornings and evenings during the spring months.

The current semi-closed farm replaces a closed one, which was located on the corner between Gelindenstraat (southeast), Kloosterstraat (southwest) and Biessemstraat (northwest). The farm includes a farmer's house, parallel to the Kloosterstraat, with a connecting right wing along the Gelindenstraat, to which a rear wing connects.
