교회 북동쪽, Reedijk 초입 근처에 2003년에 ‘Paardenwater’라는 이름의 공원이 조성되었습니다. 이 이름은 13세기에서 18세기 사이에 말과 소가 건너던 곳을 가리키는데, 특히 근처 물방앗간에 곡물을 공급하기 전에 이곳을 지나기도 했습니다. 중앙에는 Alexander Jansen van Stakka Concepts가 디자인한 기념물이 있으며, 2003년 4월 30일에 제막되었습니다. 기념물의 청동 요소는 Merchtem의 스틸트 워커(장대 높이 뛰는 사람)를 상징합니다. The history of St. Anne's Chapel dates back to the Middle Ages. However, it was destroyed in the fourth quarter of the 16th century. A new, wooden chapel was built in 1604. This was replaced by a stone chapel in 1639. In 1670, the chapel was enlarged, and around 1700, a complete reconstruction probably followed, which also included the creation of the Baroque façade. Grimbergen Abbey was likely involved in this construction phase, as the coat of arms of the then abbot of this abbey was incorporated into the façade. In 1721-1722, a new altar and rood screen were installed, among other things. The chapel was enlarged in 1782. The current altar dates from the third quarter of the 18th century and incorporates Rococo elements. Several repairs were carried out during the 19th and 20th centuries. The water tower, built in 1962 near the Roman Heirbaan, is a landmark in the landscape. As usual, it sits at the highest point in the landscape due to gravity. This ensures constant, optimal water pressure in the water distribution system.
