The largest flood plain in Flanders lies in the Polders of Kruibeke along the Scheldt River. Don't worry, flooding only happens a few times a year. Every other day of the year, you can walk, cycle, play, or fish carefree: it's all possible in the Polders of Kruibeke. The paths lead you through a diverse landscape of mudflats and salt marshes, alder swamp forests, and meadow bird habitats. Don't forget your binoculars for wildlife spotting. It's definitely worth a visit!

The castle was built by the Spanish nobleman Don Pedro Coloma and still exudes its former grandeur. Philippe de Marnix, Lord of Sainte Aldegonde, was the right-hand man of Prince William of Orange. He played a key role during the siege and fall of Antwerp in 1585 while mayor of the city. He is also mentioned as a possible author of the Wilhelmus, the Dutch national anthem.

There are two systems. Tourist service (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from April 1st to September 30th, and daily in July and August): two vessels. Ferry 1: service between Sint-Amands and Moerzeke Ferry 2: service between Mariekerke and Moerzeke Regular service (every day from October 1st to March 31st, and weekdays from April 1st to September 30th, except July and August): one ferry connecting the three jetties (Sint-Amands, Moerzeke, and Mariekerke). Crossings alternate between Moerzeke and Sint-Amands on the hour and half hour, and between Moerzeke and Mariekerke on the other. The 1955 bridge caused considerable traffic congestion, a problem largely resolved since 2009 by the construction of a second parallel bridge. However, the current bridge complex remains a busy traffic intersection, and it largely defines the skyline of the Scheldt municipality of Temse. Cyclists can safely cross the bridge or cross the N16 under it.
