The Castle Cave is a unique place where history, architecture, and nature converge. Often located near or beneath a castle, such as in South Limburg or other historic regions, a castle cave served various purposes: from storing wine or provisions to sheltering or serving as a decorative garden feature within the castle grounds' landscaping. The cave is usually situated in a wooded area or on a slope, where natural rock formations and limestone structures create an impressive backdrop. Winding paths, hills, and viewpoints often surround the cave, making it a haven for hikers and a haven of discovery.

The Chapel of Wixhou is a Neo-Byzantine chapel dating from 1850. It stands on the site of an older chapel. The name "Wixhou" is possibly derived from the Germanic "wi-hout," meaning "sacred wood." This refers to a story from 1683 in which a woman gathering wood discovered a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary. This statue, approximately 10 cm high, still stands in the chapel, which is therefore dedicated to Notre-Dame aux Bois-Bénits ("Our Lady of the Sacred Wood"). The chapel became a place of pilgrimage and features two coats of arms above the portal, including the coat of arms of the Argenteau family. The organ in the chapel was regularly played by the famous composer Franz Liszt, who was a guest at the nearby Château de Argenteau. The chapel is owned by the Van Zuylen family, residents of that castle. The neo-Byzantine decor and the historical ties with the Argenteau and Van Zuylen families give the chapel a special cultural value.

There are old flint quarries in this area: the “Carrières de silex du Thier des Vignes”.

The Caves of Montagne Saint-Pierre are part of a vast underground network of tunnels excavated for centuries for the extraction of marl. Today, these caves are a unique feature of the Montagne Saint-Pierre nature reserve, renowned for its rare flora and fauna. The cool, mysterious atmosphere of the caves contrasts beautifully with the sun-drenched slopes above. Some sections are accessible via guided walks or caving tours. Tip: Wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight if you plan a visit – it remains a rugged natural area!

Block 01 is one of the observation and gun emplacements of the iconic Fort Eben-Emael. From this vantage point, you have an impressive view of the Albert Canal and the surrounding area. It's not only a strategic historical point but also a stunning panoramic viewpoint for hikers and photographers. Ideal for a short break during your tour of the area. Tip: Visit on a clear day – you can see for miles!

A mysterious flint cave on the edge of the Albert Canal, near the locks at Klein Ternaaien. You reach the entrance via a steep path through the woods. The caves are dark, cool, and full of atmosphere—perfect for those who love hidden natural spaces. Bring a flashlight and good walking shoes!
