The shores of Lake Eupen form a picturesque and tranquil landscape in the heart of Belgium's East Cantons. Surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, the waterfront offers a perfect spot for walks, picnics, and water sports. The lake itself shimmers serenely in the sunlight, reflecting the surrounding nature, creating an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. Along the banks are walking paths and small jetties where visitors can enjoy the serene surroundings, spot birds, or simply relax as the gentle lapping of the water ripples in the background. Especially in spring and autumn, the trees along the water display an impressive palette of colors, making the shores a popular destination for nature lovers and photographers.

The routes around the Wesertalsperre that Komoot shows do not have any cycle junctions, while they have been placed there by the province of Liège. Tip to Komoot: mention junction numbers on your routes. This makes it easier to plan a cycle tour in the High Fens, because there are hardly any overview signs along the way that you can use to orient yourself.

Superb lake, relatively uncrowded

It stands on the crest of the dam and faces north-east, towards the former district town of Eupen and the former Prussian border, which was about 5 km away. The artist was Antoine-Félix Bouré (1831–1883). The lion was completely restored in October 2000.

The circular route around the dam has great recreational value.

The navigable dam is a good starting point for numerous tours.
