The Kloosterbos is a nature reserve in the north of East Flanders and is divided between Zelzate and Wachtebeke. It is, just like the Heidebos and the Stropersbos, one of the last remnants of what was once an extensive forest and heathland area from Maldegem to Stekene. Most of the trees in the current forest have been planted in the last 200 years, before that it was mainly heathland, as can be clearly seen on the Ferraris map. A number of zones in the forest have been set up as play forests. The forest has had the FSC label since June 2010.

Grote and Kleine Kilkreek are an ideal stop for a picnic or to take a rest. These are remnants of soil washed away as a result of medieval storms that broke the dikes. The dikes were restored and the creeks are silent witnesses in the landscape. Don't forget your binoculars because you can spot many water birds here.

The domed church was built in 1953-1954 as a successor to the church that was destroyed by war in 1944. Fine example of post-war architecture with a striking dome with a diameter of 18 meters that was built completely free in the air, without support. The pressure of the vault is absorbed by an octagonal substructure in which large arch openings have been made to the side rooms. The cover with slate tiles is also unique. The tower forms a harmonious whole with the church. The church has been a national monument since 2008.
