Founded in 1928, the Peter Zemmer winery in Kurtinig on the Wine Route is known for its exceptional variety of vineyards. The vineyards range from 220 to 1,030 meters above sea level and enable the production of distinctive wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and red varieties such as Lagrein and Pinot Noir. The winery focuses on environmentally conscious vine care, sustainable soil management, and yield reduction to ensure healthy grapes. This results in natural wines that reflect the character of the unique terroir. Peter Zemmer is particularly known for his white Burgundy varieties, especially the Chardonnay Riserva Vigna Crivelli and the Pinot Grigio Riserva Giatl. The Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Kofl, made from grapes from the highest-altitude vineyard, is another flagship of the winery. On the left of the Adige, near the town of Carnedo, this road – partly asphalted, partly gravelled and compact – allows you to cycle in nature and with almost no traffic. It is an excellent alternative to the Adige cycle path, if you intend to deviate from it for a few kilometers.

The cycle path is very well developed and therefore easy to ride. But there are almost no rest stops. In the sweltering heat, there is no chance of resting in the shade. There is a nice spot right next to the motorway and I would not recommend it. I would not ride this cycle path again. It runs for a long time behind Bolzano right next to the motorway and is very loud.
