The Carlotto family history is a success story spanning three generations. It began in 1940, when Umberto Carlotto began farming the castle farm in Mazzon as a tenant. Despite the financial risk, he continued his work with passion and was later joined by his son Ferruccio. In 2000, Ferruccio and his daughter Michela ventured into independence and founded the Ferruccio Carlotto winery in Auer. The winery's focus is on Pinot Noir, which accounts for 70 percent of the vineyard area, as the north-south orientation and the clayey soil are ideal for this wine. Lagrein is also cultivated, accounting for a quarter of production, and Vernatsch, which has been grown in a small vineyard in Auer since 2013 and represents a nod to tradition.
