Outstanding panoramic views (in the truest sense) stretching from the Tyrolean mountains to the Dolomites. The climb is quite steep in places, and the ground is loose and rocky, but with a bit of stamina, it's technically no problem.

Worth a stay

A beautifully situated hut with a great panorama of the Dolomites. And we happened to be there on Thursday, dumpling day, soooo delicious and the selection...... great tour there from the Kühhof car park

A really beautiful Alpine Club refuge, with good comfort. The innkeepers in particular are warm-hearted and super friendly. Currently Thursday is dumpling day. Rarely have I eaten so many different and, above all, such delicious dumplings. Sun terrace with a sensational view! If you're on vacation in Brixen, it's a sweaty must!

For experienced, sure-footed mountaineers with no fear of heights, the Kassianspitze is best climbed counterclockwise from the Latzfonser Kreuz as part of a 3-summit traverse (Ritzlar - Kassianspitze - SAM). The normal route leads from the refuge past Lake Kassian to the summit (approx. 1 hour) There are 3 great panoramas with summit labels set up around the summit cross.

Excellently run mountain hut with good food and a fantastic location.

Schutzhaus Latzfonser Kreuz: very nice hospitality, super delicious food, we really liked it.
