An absolutely perfect valley for cyclists, rideable and without traffic!

Very useful for those arriving from Milan Central, especially since 2024 (bike transport in Lombardy has become free). From Colico you can make trips that go from the valley floor, to the lakeside, to the beautiful mountains between Valtellina and Valchiavenna. The Sentiero Valtellina (which starts right from the station) is well connected to several train stations, and you can take advantage of this feature to not make circular trips but to start and return from 2 different stations. Highly recommended! There is also a fountain to leave already loaded with water.

Colico station is a hub for cyclists in Lombardy, because it connects Milan with Lake Como and with Valtellina and Valchiavenna. It can be used as a starting point or as the end of the outing, and is located near the lake shore (so you can also rest before returning home) and many bars. There is also a fountain, but above all it is the very beginning of the Sentiero Valtellina (if you look in front of the station you will find the first of the small brown signs that indicate how far you have traveled from Colico and how far you have to go to Bormio, which is the end of the route).

Beautiful enchanted alleys in the small village on the hill, but racing bikes have to be carried.
