Beautiful Roman-style church with a large square

Classic climb of the San Colombano hills

Gothic style. The façade was restored in 1913 by the architect Gussalli: the plaster that covered it was removed and the two side doors were closed, replaced by two large single-lancet windows with pointed arches. In 1992 the church was awarded the title of minor basilica.

The fourteenth-century basilica of San Bassiano is the only building left standing in Laus Pompeia, today Lodi Vecchia, which survived the destruction perpetrated by the Milanese army in 1158. Emperor Frederick Barbarossa decided to rebuild Laus a few kilometers away, on the Eghezzone hill and founded the new city: Laus Nova, today's Lodi. In addition to the basilica, it is also interesting to visit the archaeological remains of the old city.

The church of San Martino Vescovo is a Catholic place of worship in Carpiano, dating back to the 14th century and almost entirely rebuilt in the 15th century in its current form.
