A bivouac with a fireplace and stove is always open. Located at the foot of Mount Sporno, it's an excellent shelter in times of need or simply for a rest. The refuge is always open and accessible. Naturally, please respect the basic rules, taking any waste down with you and leaving everything tidy (preferably better than you found it).

A significant peak for every Parmigiano, as it's the closest mountain to the city center to exceed 1,000 meters in altitude. That said, the summit isn't particularly scenic, but it's still pleasant.

In the Middle Ages, Fornovo was an important stop on the pilgrimage route to Monte Bardone, along the Via Francigena route, and its name is also linked to the famous battle fought in 1495 between the army of the Italian League and that of Charles VIII. Of interest to visitors are the 11th-century Romanesque parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its precious Antelami sculptures and the 13th-century marble slab; the 17th-century Villa Carona and the Vallezza oil well.

The charming Romanesque parish church, dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption (11th century), shows numerous adaptations and reconstructions: the important façade, with a simple pointed roof, was originally a shelter and protection for pilgrims. The precious 13th century sculptures of the Antelamic school, almost randomly distributed over the façade, represent fragments of structures that, with the altar at the front, may have been inside, to decorate a pulpit or an ambo. A marble slab from the 13th century. Near the portal, a headless statue carries the signs of the pilgrimage: the saddlebags, the staff and the keys, symbolic access to the basilicas of Rome. Inside, it is still possible to recognize the original structure with three naves, with the narthex in front. The church is open to visitors every day from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.

Very panoramic point, the fixed gazebos on the top call for a moment of pause. The slope from Calestano is challenging, especially the first kilometres, challenging slopes on a straight and daunting road (there is a small fountain in the Fragno area). The other side, however, can be "attacked" from Langhirano, here too a challenging climb up to Cozzano, where you have some moments of recovery (there is a fountain), and then begins a more regular climb again in the last 2 km.

Mount Sporno is a peak of the Parma Apennines 1,058 meters above sea level, located along the ridge that divides the Parma and Baganza valleys. The peak is in the municipality of Langhirano, but the slopes of the mountain also belong to the municipality of Calestano, from which it is about 3 km away. It is the mountain higher than 1,000 meters closest to Parma, from which it is about 22 kilometers away. From the top of the mountain you can see a panorama of the Emilian plain. On clear days the view can easily reach the peaks of the Prealps and the Alps. On the summit there is a monument dedicated to the Alpine troops, erected in 1953 and rebuilt in 1987 by former Alpine troops from Riano, a locality at the base of the mountain. Just below the summit there is a wooden emergency shelter, always open, especially useful in the winter. The climb up the mountain does not present excessive difficulties. The summit can be reached in about an hour and a half on foot starting from the towns of Riano, Vallerano, Ramiano or Castrignano. Starting from the parish church of Castrignano, the difference in altitude is only 350 m. The Ring of Mount Sporno is a mountain bike competition with start and finish in Marzolara which winds over a length of 16.3 km along cart tracks and paths, touching the top of the mountain. In the nearby town of Fragno di Calestano, the "National Fragno black truffle fair" takes place every year, in the months of October and November, which reached its 21st edition in 2011.

The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, also known as the parish church of Fornovo, is a Romanesque-style Romanesque place of worship located in Piazza IV Novembre in Fornovo di Taro, in the province and diocese of Parma; it belongs to the group of Parma parish churches and is part of the pastoral area of Berceto-Fornovo-Medesano. The original place of worship was built in the Lombard era, probably in the 9th century: the first evidence of its existence dates back to 854.

Monte Sporno is an interesting mountain located along the Baganza/Parma watershed ridge. Unfortunately this mountainous area is frequented more by enduro riders than by hikers. There is a dense network of carriageways and paths to be rediscovered and combined into more or less large and complex rings, giving vent to one's creativity. Here we propose a satisfying tour that allows for a fairly in-depth knowledge of the Baganza side of this mountain. Just below the summit there is the wooden emergency shelter, always open, especially useful in the winter.
