The Plattkofelhütte is an alpine refuge in the Dolomites, located on the Friedrich-August-Weg at 2300 m at the foot of the Plattkofel.

The hut takes its name from the Plattkofel, the characteristic Dolomite peak that towers above.

The Sasso Piatto Refuge (Plattkofelhütte) stands at 2,300 m above sea level, in the Giogo di Fassa area, the highest point of the Alpe di Siusi as well as the border between the municipalities of Castelrotto and Campitello, between the provinces of Bolzano and that of Trento. A magnificent viewpoint over the Marmolada, the Sasso Pordoi, the Sciliar, the Denti di Terrarossa, the Alpe di Siusi, the Molignon, the Catinaccio Group and the Ötztal Alps. Generally open from June to mid-October, it offers first-class hospitality with the possibility of staying overnight in dormitories for 8-10 people or private rooms for 2 to 6 people equipped with oak parquet and larch wood furniture. There is also a recreation room with library. Built in the early 1950s, it was expanded in 1971 and completely renovated in 2016. The Sasso Piatto Refuge offers a majestic view of the Marmolada and is the starting point for the ascent to the mountain of the same name. The cuisine and the accommodation are noteworthy.

Great hut with over 100 beds to stay overnight... TOP showers, but very short for showering with a token... but saving water is the order of the day. Great view of the Schlern and the Alpe di Siusi. Very tasty menu in the evening. Really recommendable.

Very nice mountain hut with a very good gastronomy

The Schlernhaus on Monte Pez is ideal for an overnight stay. Good mattresses, clean sanitary facilities and delicious food.

The Schlernhaus is a great place to stay if you have started a hike from the Alpe di Siusi. For the first day's stage, the distance up to there is also sufficient, since the ascent to Monte Pez is quite steep uphill. The mattresses in the bedrooms are good, the sanitary facilities are clean and the food offered both in the evening and for breakfast is delicious and sufficient.
