10월 28, 2025, Lago di Turrite Cava
This artificial lake was created by damming the Turritecava stream in the late 1930s. Its protected location makes it an excellent refuge for birds. Canyoning is possible nearby on the Rio Selvano, a tributary of the Turritecava.

A very beautiful bridge over the Lima River in Fornoli. For pedestrians and cyclists only. The best way to cross the river to the quieter side.

4월 22, 2025, Ponte della Maddalena (Devil's Bridge)
Ponte della Maddalena, or Ponte del Diavolo, is one of those places that will leave you speechless. It is located in Borgo a Mozzano and is truly unique with its very high arch and slightly crooked shape that makes it different from any other medieval bridge. It is absolutely worth stopping: the atmosphere is special. Crossing it on foot is an experience, and if you are on a bike, be careful of the stone section that can be slippery. There is also a bar nearby with a beautiful view of the bridge, perfect for a break before getting back on the road.

From Wiki: "The Apennine pass of Radici, between the Serchio and Secchia valleys, was certainly important and frequented in ancient times and became, during the Middle Ages, a place of transit for merchants, pilgrims and armies. A short distance from the pass arose a hospice for pilgrims and a church linked to the cult of the hermits Pellegrino and Bianco. Pellegrino, traditionally believed to be the son of a Scottish king, is said to have lived for years in prayer in the wild surrounding mountains and his presence is linked, in addition to popular devotion, to various stories and legends. In truth Pellegrino and Bianco have never been officially canonized. "

The Lima, or rather “La Lima”, as the valley dwellers affectionately call their river, originates in the Sestaione valley. The Lima is fed by a complex network of tributary streams in the highlands, which bring snow, spring and rain water. In its course towards the sea, just after crossing the town of Bagni di Lucca Terme, the watercourse up to that point, of a torrential type, also given the conditions of the terrain, calms down and widens flowing into the Serchio, another river that originates in the Apennines, crosses and characterizes the life and environment of the nearby Garfagnana, a small and green historical-geographical region and a large part of the entire province of Lucca.

In the beautiful Garfagnana region, between the famous Tuscan towns of Lucca and Barga, lies the Ponte della Maddalena (Devil's Bridge) next to the picturesque village of Borgo a Mozzano. Built over the river Serchio, the Ponte della Maddalena is not only one of the most beautiful bridges in the region to see. It is also a bridge with a long history full of special legends, the first stories of which date back to the 11th century. Nobody knows exactly when the construction of this impressive bridge began. It probably happened around the year 1100, on the orders of Matilda di Canossa. The first legend surrounding the bridge originated from this period and it was given its nickname the 'Devil's Bridge'. In Italian it is also called Ponte del Diavolo. Around that time, a man named Saint Julian was working on the construction. Because the work was hard and slow, he decided to make a pact with the devil. The devil would finish the bridge in one night, in exchange for the soul of the first living creature to cross the bridge. This happened, only Saint Julian made sure that it was a dog that crossed the bridge first and not a human. It seems that the devil is still furious today… Source: https://www.toscanetips.nl/blog/ponte-della-maddalena-bezoeken

Castelnuovo di Garfagnana - Tea Time Sunday, the locals in the new castle are also enjoying the peace. The apostles Peter and Paul invite us into the shade of their modest prayer house (Parrocchia Abbaziale dei SS. Apostoli Pietro e Paolo). The holy water is bubbling… The tea ceremony is a feast for the eyes when the tea bag changes the water in color and scent. After a short toast we bring comfort to Don Quixote. Seated on his horse Rocinate at Rocca Ariostesca, (old city gate) he continues his battle alone… Wandering further through the empty alleys and streets, students in Teatro Alfieri manage to entertain us with a matinée. Students put their best foot forward while fellow students, with crossed fingers, encourage the main character. Exam passed It was nice to be in the new castle during our tea time. Section of the Giro del Diavolo, with a climb to high altitude, you follow the "00" partly and partly in the shade among the beech trees, pay attention to the general danger sign, indicating boulders and steps, (perhaps if the path is wet it could be slippery) with a minimum of attention you can overcome it very well. At the Burignone Refuge, if you need to stop, ask and book availability; it is very popular, as it can also be accessed directly from the town and is only 2.8 km away on a dirt road

Given its curved shape and the appealing way it reflects in the sparkling waters of the Serchio River, it's hard to imagine why this scenic landmark was nicknamed the "Devil's Bridge." According to local lore, the Ponte della Maddalena got its devilish nickname because, under pressure to build it, the builder made a deal with the devil to speed up its completion. In reality, the bridge was probably commissioned by the Tuscan Countess Matilda and served as an important crossing for pilgrims traveling between France and Rome. At one end there once stood a statue of Mary Magdalene

A town halfway between Tuscany and Emilia, San Pellegrino in Alpe is located just above the Radici pass and boasts an ancient history. Worth seeing here is certainly the sanctuary of the saints Pellegrino and Bianco, a place of worship as well as hospitable for wayfarers and pilgrims along the road between Tuscany and Emilia.
