The Rifugio Grand Tournalin stands elegantly in the grassy valley of Alpe Tournalin, offering a warm welcome and a family atmosphere at over 2,600 meters above sea level. Here, wood and stone are combined with traditional cuisine that warms the heart after excursions to the nearby peaks. The view of Monte Rosa and the surrounding nature provide the backdrop for a regenerating break, ideal for those who want to experience the mountains in all their authenticity. The price for half board is around €60. The shower token is €3 for 3 minutes.

The La Tchavana farmhouse on Alpe Metsan is easily reached on foot either from Barmasc, along the beautiful and easy Ru Courtaud walk, which can also be done by mountain bike or on horseback, or by climbing from Mandrou on the path that offers a spectacular view of the Monte Rosa glacier.

In the splendid setting of the Metsan Alp, the La Tchavana farmhouse is a destination (or crossing point) appreciated by adults and children alike for the presence of animals and for its own production of typical products. Among these, it is worth tasting cured meats and cheeses, but also yogurt and ice cream. I recommend you stop for lunch or a snack.

The Col de Nannaz is a beautiful Alpine pass located between the Ayas valley and Valtournenche. From the Gran Tournalin refuge at this point there is just over 200 meters of altitude difference, and from here it is possible to climb to Becca di Nana, Becca Trecare and the small and large Tournalin. The view of the Monte Rosa chain and the Matterhorn is simply wonderful. This pass is one of many present along the Alta Via 1 of the Aosta Valley and also of the Tour des Géants. The terrain can be technically challenging in parts, but there are trails passing through here that remain mostly non-technical the entire route.

This pass connects the Ayas valley to the Gressoney valley, offering a magical view. From here it is possible to reach the Pinter lakes, the Testa Grigia peak and the Lateltin bivouac, but these paths are all rocky and technical. However, there is a trail that crosses the pass from northwest to southeast, where it is possible to run. Keep in mind though that the slope is considerable on both sides.

The Teodulo Pass is a high mountain pass that crosses the eastern Pennine Alps, connecting Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais and Breuil-Cervinia in the Italian region of Valle d'Aosta. It is the lowest and easiest pass between the Zermatt and Valtournenche valleys. Right next to the pass, there is the Teodulo refuge, at 3,317 meters above sea level. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Matterhorn and the suggestive Grandes Murailles chain. A relatively easy peak to reach from here is the Theodulehorn, at 3,472 metres.
