Cavalese (in the local dialect Cavalés, also German Gablöss) is an Italian mountain town in Trentino, in the autonomous region of Trentino-Alto Adige. It is part of the Val di Fiemme association of municipalities and at the same time the historical, administrative and cultural center of the Val di Fiemme region.

Situated at almost 2,000 metres, the Pampeago Pass is located between the Val d'Ega and the Val di Fiemme. Connecting Tesero and Cavalese with Obereggen, it is one of the toughest climbs in the Alps. The last kilometres of the southern slope were paved for the 2012 Giro d'Italia. Not to be confused with the so-called Alpe di Pampeago, about 200 metres lower on the Tesero side.

The Cavalese waterfall is fed by the Rio Val Moena, which rises in the beautiful mountain valley of the same name. It is interesting to watch how its water falls over the edge of the rocks about 20m into the depths. It looks as if it is pointing an index finger towards the sky. If you watch it from the bridge, at the outlet, you are impressed by the unbridled power of nature and feel the fine spray on your face. Several short and longer (circular) paths lead around the waterfall.
