Beautiful paved road immersed in a beech forest, in some sections the slopes go beyond 15% that leads to the Hermitage of Camaldoli, founded a thousand years ago by San Romualdo, is a community of Benedictine monks. Its two houses, the Sacred Hermitage and the Monastery, immersed in the peace of the forest, represent two fundamental dimensions of the monastic experience, solitude and communion. The monastic community lives in the search for God, in prayer and work, and opens itself to sharing with the men and women of our time especially through hospitality. The Guesthouse offers a space open to all, for spiritual and cultural deepening, for dialogue and meeting.

The small town of Camaldoli, located within the municipality of Poppi, in the heart of the Casentino forests, is a real surprise. In fact, a community of monks founded at the beginning of the year 1000 by Saint Romualdo of Ravenna and still active today resides here. The monks live their life of prayer between the monastery and the hermitage, two elegant complexes about three kilometers apart, which are the main reason for the trip. But that's not all, because visiting Camaldoli also means immersing yourself in the lush nature of the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna national park, which extends between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, and entirely includes the town and its surroundings. You can therefore walk along the trekking paths, or cycle along them, and then visit the beautiful surroundings, since the Casentino, the valley below, is truly full of things to see.

La Lama (702 m): here there is also a small church and an arboretum. Here there is a large building belonging to the State Forestry Corps, which is inhabited by forest rangers only on Saturdays and Sundays in the months of July and August: not far from this building there is also a fresh spring, the spring of Francis.
