아르베스바흐 성은 꼭 방문해야 할 최고의 명소입니다. 멀리서도 '발트비르텔의 송곳니'라고 불리는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 현장에 도착하면 126개의 계단을 올라 입구까지 가야 하며, 입장료(현재 2026년 €2.50)는 동전이나 카드로 지불해야 합니다. 그런 다음 내부로 계속 올라가면 멋진 전망을 제공하는 전망대까지 갈 수 있습니다. 탑 주위를 도는 순환로도 있지만, 발걸음이 안정적이고 적합한 신발이 필요합니다.

This place is truly beautiful. Especially in spring after the snowmelt, when it gurgles and bubbles particularly loudly and you can't see the stream because it's hidden under the rocks.

The climb to the rock is worthwhile. From the top, you have a fantastic view of the town and the surrounding area.

The village was first mentioned in 1246 and was originally owned by the Kuenring line of Weitra-Rappottenstein. In 1282, the estate passed to the Lords of Falkenberg, and in 1291 to Ulrich von Kapelln. In the 14th century, Arbesbach is mentioned as a freehold property. From 1326 to 1348, it was owned by the Lords of Klingenberg, who in 1347 mortgaged "the castle and the house at Arbesbach" to Weikart and Katharina von Winkl. From 1348, Arbesbach was owned by the Lords of Dachsberg, and from 1423 by the Lords of Starhemberg. In 1480, the castle was destroyed by a Bohemian raiding party and was not rebuilt. In 1600, the estate passed to the Lords of Tschernembl, and in 1604 to Georg Fenzl von... Grueb and as early as 1605 to Georg Kaspar von Neuhaus. From 1614 owned by the Lords von Hackelberg, from 1675 to 1862 by the Countess Dietrichstein. Afterwards, it passed to the Herberstein, Geusau, and Baron Holtz families, and from 1877 onwards to the Altzinger family, who still own the estate today and reside in part of the castle complex. Schönbach was first documented as a market town in 1351 and had belonged to the Rappottenstein domain since the 14th century. Pilgrimages to "Our Lady Maria Rast" were already mentioned in 1421. Construction of the present church began in 1450; the previous one had become too small. The church was consecrated in 1457. From 1698 to 1828, Schönbach was a Hieronymite monastery. In 1700, Schönbach became an independent parish. The monastery and church were severely damaged in the village fire of 1849. Valuable archival material was lost.
