Nach einem intensiven Arbeitsleben, beschloss ich 2021, mich im Oktober in den Vorruhestand zu verabschieden. Einfach um Zeit zu haben, für all jene Dinge die bislang zu kurz kamen. Neben Familie steht dabei Fitness an vorderster Stelle.
Begonnen im September 21 mit meinem alten Drahtesel, die Donauinsel/Donauradweg rauf und runter, habe ich schnell erkannt wo meine Grenzen in Reichweite und vor allem Steigungen liegen. Auch unter optimistischer Berücksichtigung einer besser werdenden Kondition 😉.
Habe mir daher ein Trekking E-Bike zugelegt, um mehr Möglichkeiten zu haben die Gegend rund um Wien zu erkunden. Neben Graveln habe ich dabei auch meine neue Leidenschaft, Waldwege und leichte Trails entdeckt. Ein E-MTB war der nächste Schritt. Mit diesen beiden Rädern bin ich nun im Großraum Ostösterreich unterwegs, um unser schönes Land auf diese Weise für mich neu zu entdecken.

Today is day 2 of my short trip through the Waldviertel region. I started at my overnight accommodation in Langschlag, where it was still a cool 14 degrees Celsius. As the day progressed, it became truly summery again. Bright sunshine and over 25 degrees Celsius.

Equipped with a sleep-away permit from my better half, I set off early in the morning for the Waldviertel region. I planned two lovely loops to explore trails I hadn't yet ridden 😎.

Today we headed to the Upper Weinviertel region and the Czech border region.

After various vacations and to-dos around the house, today I finally have the time and leisure for a nice bike ride.
Started at 8 a.m., in pleasant 16 degrees Celsius. A leisurely Waldviertel tour. Partly on the Thaya cycle paths, partly off the beaten track. It was beautiful!

Fantastic weather, super nice round!
Although, on the Lindkogel route back down towards Baden I did start to sweat a little now and then 😊. According to Komoot it was an S2-S5 up - but a simple S0 down. When I was planning it I was already thinking how does that fit together - up to S5 but always S0

The most demanding tour so far this year. Mostly on loose ground. Partly wet and slippery, some tough climbs and descents. All the aches and pains held up and it was really fun 😊.
First we went to the Thurmhof castle ruins in Hof am Leithaberge. Then to the Scharfeneck castle ruins and over the Leithagebirge
