The Astico River owes its name, according to one theory, to the term 'àstacus', which indicates the freshwater crayfish present in some parts of the valley. Another hypothesis links it to the 'laste', smooth stone slabs lapped by the river. In Roman times, the Astico was known as Medoacus Minor, while the Brenta was Medoacus Maior.

The Astico river here makes its way between rocks and canyons and creates wonderful pools of emerald water. They are swimmable, there is some small beach and shade. Ample parking.

La Prìa (stone, in Venetian dialect) is well known and crowded as a natural summer swimming pool, where you can cool off in the icy, crystalline waters and enjoy yourself on the surrounding lawns and rocks, complete with a large car park, bar and barbecue area. In reality it deserves much more in terms of landscape and morphology, which is best appreciated when the place is deserted: a corner of uncontaminated nature, framed by lush forests and pre-Alpine mountains; an evocative earthly paradise, in which the stone has been excavated and smoothed over the millennia by the Astico river with ravines, basins and ravines!
