Yes, there are breeding/herding activities that use Maremma sheepdogs. It is good to keep an eye on them but, personally, they have never even barked at me. Yesterday (17-5-2025) for example, they were kept inside their fence and had no reaction.

It was the ancient eastern gate of access to the Emilian forum. It overlooked the Appian Way which is still visible today.

The cutting of the mountain is due to the construction work of the Appia Traianea, the variant of the original stretch of the Appia, which allowed people to avoid passing through the historic center of Terracina, shortening the route by a few kilometers and avoiding a lot of climbing.

In the Emilian Forum you can walk on the original Roman pavement. There is also a section of the Appian Way in addition to the recently restored magnificent Roman theatre.
