In a lush valley around Iglesias lies one of Sardinia's most important Roman monuments. Originally a nuragic sanctuary, it was also used during the Carthaginian and Punic-Hellenistic periods. Built from local limestone, the sanctuary is nestled in a picturesque valley in the Fluminimaggiore area.

The Temple of Antas stands in the splendid Antas Valley, a natural amphitheater intertwined with over three thousand years of history. The Nuragic people practiced rituals and burials here since the Bronze Age, followed by the Carthaginians, who erected a sanctuary dedicated to the god Sid Addir Babay, and finally by the Romans, who in the 2nd century AD rebuilt the temple in honor of Sardus Pater Babai, the patron deity of the Sardinian people. The Su Zurfuru mine was discovered in 1889 and for decades was one of the most important mining centers in the area. Originally dedicated to lead and zinc mining, the mine converted to fluorite mining after the war, but finally ceased operations in 1993. Today, the site has been restored and made accessible to visitors thanks to the Su Zurfuru Mine association. The Mining Memory Museum is open daily by reservation only. With approximately 14,000 inhabitants, Villacidro is one of the main towns in the Medio Campidano region and is located at the foot of the Monte Linas massif, in a green valley surrounded by hills and streams. The town is known for its olive oil, citrus fruits, and cherries, as well as for its strong artisanal and gastronomic traditions. In the historic center, you'll find shops, bars, restaurants, and various accommodation options. Nearby, the Sa Spendula waterfall, one of the town's symbols, and the Canale Serci mine, where tin was mined as far back as the Nuragic era, are worth a visit.
