This picturesque village, with a population of about 6,183, is known for its hilltop location and for having been voted the most beautiful in Italy. It was long identified with the legendary Cretan city of Engyon.

An alternative road to the main one connects Gangi to Geraci: it is entirely asphalted although sometimes in poor condition and can still be easily traveled even with road bikes. It does not have prohibitive slopes, but rather a spectacular panorama.

Here a beautiful dirt road winds through the vegetation of the Nature Reserve which takes its name from the Campanito lakes and Mount Sambughetti which reaches 1,553 m above sea level.
