It overlooks a clean and transparent sea and has a long pebble beach. The town is bordered by a promontory known as Capo Sant'Alessio on which the castle stands.

From the national road along the coast there are beautiful views of Isola Bella and the rocky bay with the peninsula behind it. However, there is no (reasonable) footpath along the road, let alone a hiking trail!
