Wonderful place to be

Bardolino is really worth seeing, but it's a nightmare for cyclists. Too many people in the town itself and also in the surrounding areas.

Bardolino is an Italian municipality on Lake Garda in the province of Verona in the northeastern Italian region of Veneto with 7,003 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2022). Beautiful waterfall that ends in a pool, where it is also possible to swim. The route to get there is very shady and really pleasant, even in summer. Be careful, however, as it is a seasonal waterfall: depending on the rains and the seasons, it may not be in activity.

The Legend of the Cross: Once upon a time there was a very aggressive wolf who lived on the Rocca di Manerba. The wolf was terrifying and no one dared come near him. Countless attempts have been made to capture the wolf but all in vain. At one point a price was put on the wolf's head. At that time, the people subsisted on agriculture and sheep breeding, so news of the financial reward for the capture of the wolf soon spread across the area. Three young men from Moniga, Raffa and Pieve Vecchia, were willing to take up the challenge. The first two brave men tried to catch the wolf with live bait and then with a large fishing net, but in both cases the enemy caught them. The two young men were driven off the cliff and fell into the water of the lake. At that point, two huge rocks rise out of the water, commemorating the sacrifice of the two challengers. The third candidate, a young farmer from the nearby village of Pieve Vecchia, took courage and climbed to the top of the cliff where the wolf inhabited a den overlooking the lake. During the ensuing fight, the young man protected himself with a large cross that he used as a shield. This cross is said to have scared the wolf so much that it kept recoiling until it fell off the cliff too and died. Today there is a large cross on the top (which is very nicely lit at night), in honor of that young man from Pieve Vecchia who gave the beautiful promontory back to the people of Manerba.
