Nice old village and of course a fabulous view!

I found shelter from a thunderstorm on my bike there today. God is a cyclist 🍻

In Villa there are several small alleys that end directly in Lake Garda.

St. Herculaneum, Bishop of Brescia in the 6th century, spent his final years as a hermit in Campione del Garda. According to legend, after his death, many towns around Lake Garda fought so fiercely over his remains that they decided to place them in a small boat and entrust them to the lake's waters. Miraculously, the boat landed in the Gulf of Maderno in front of St. Andrew's Church, at the spot still marked today by a stone inscription and an iron gate. And this place became sacred, because according to popular belief, anyone who fell into the water here was miraculously saved.

The small church has some very old frescoes and in the late afternoon the sun shines into the Romanesque crypt. A beautiful, quiet and spiritual place.
