Bridge of Peace

The Valle Camonica Cycle Path is a route that winds along the Oglio River, offering a panoramic itinerary through mountains, historic villages and natural landscapes. The route, suitable for cyclists of all levels, passes through characteristic villages of the valley, allowing you to discover places rich in history and culture, such as the UNESCO World Heritage rock carvings.

This section of the Via Valeriana runs at the foot of the Dosso della Regina (in dialect Dòsh de la Regina), a mountain north-east of Pisogne and west of Fraine. The name seems to have been linked to an ancient popular tradition which tells of a "queen hunt" (big game). Slow down, look up and try to see the tip of this mountain over 1,000 meters high in the lower Val Camonica.

Artogne is a municipality in Val Camonica, whose name could derive from the Lombard conjugation Hart (fortress) and Thon (rural enclosure). In addition to the three churches, some stone houses and a splendid view of Lake Iseo, Artogne can boast the survival of part of the ancient medieval walls, still equipped with a walkway dug into the stone.
