The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Carate Brianza is located in the hamlet of Agliate: this is why it is known as the Basilica of Agliate. Dating back to the early 11th century, it is a Romanesque basilica, attributable to the Ottonian architectural tradition (Ottonian art is that which extends from 887, the beginning of the Ottonian dynasty, to the year 1000). The walls are constructed of river pebbles and ashlars, bound with mortar. The façade is salient and reflects the three-nave structure, each with an entrance door.
