ATTENTION Hikers are advised that the Franz Shelter in the municipality of Venzone will be closed until the ongoing extraordinary maintenance work is completed! The Franz Shelter is located in the Cuel de Frate area. It is a modest but well-equipped structure, complete with a stove, tables, and a bench. It can be easily reached via the CAI trail no. 701 from Tugliezzo in just over an hour. Alternatively, it can be reached on foot via the forest road (closed to vehicles) that ends right next to the shelter, also starting from Tugliezzo. It is a popular destination in all seasons as a starting point for hikes to Mount Plauris or the Cjariguart Valley. Beds: 4 Water: non-potable, but available depending on seasonal weather conditions. It is always open and unmanaged. Maintenance is handled by the Park Authority with the essential contribution of local volunteers and all users! The neighborhood has been almost completely uninhabited since the 1976 earthquake, though some houses are still inhabited. The village is accessible only by a path (on foot, a suitable motorcycle, or by mule), served by electricity and water; sometimes a helicopter is needed to transport supplies.

A steep climb, the surface is initially compact, but higher up there's a section with steps that are difficult to negotiate. Rarely exposed, the trail has several switchbacks that break up the pace.

The FVG1 is a popular cycle path that follows the route of a former railway line. There are several ideal exits for exploring the villages along the way.

This is a small votive chapel located in a fork on the CAI 420/421 trail leading to the summit of Monte Monticello. This fork is located at approximately 920 meters above sea level, along the descent from Monticello, and is characterized by the presence of a crucifix or a book for passage stamps, typical elements of small votive chapels in Alpine environments.
