The parish church dedicated to Saints Gervasio and Protasio is one of the oldest churches in Friuli. Archaeological research has brought to light several construction phases, the oldest of which is identifiable with a small basilica with a rectangular plan (6th-8th century) with a quadrangular presbytery and preceded by a narthex. During the 9th century. a tower was added. In the 12th century. it assumed its current dimensions while the Gothic influences are related to a reconstruction following the earthquake of 1348. The interior, divided into three naves, presents the oldest frescoes in the triumphal arch, on three superimposed registers, dating back to the second half of the 14th century. and depicting a cycle including the Annunciation, Resurrection, Visitation, Madonna and Child and Saints. source www.archeocartafvg.it
