The climb to the Passo delle Palade from Lana connects the Val d'Adige with the Val di Non. It is about 18 kilometers long with a difference in altitude of 1200 meters. The gradient is fairly constant for most of the route. Small, rather unknown pass between South Tyrol and Trentino. On the western, South Tyrolean side of Laurein over alpine meadows and light forest with a moderate gradient of a maximum of 8%, easy to reach the top of the pass. From the Trentino side a little steeper, but also with a maximum of 10% and winding, partly with a very nice view up to the inconspicuous pass in the forest.

For those who do not want to travel by car, the bus stop on line 246 Merano - Fondo, Autorimessa is the starting point for various tours on the Gampenpass. From here you can easily get to the Laugenalm and from there to the Laugenspitze and Laugensee. When I was there it took about 1 hour from Merano. The bus does not run too regularly during the day, mostly every two hours. Therefore, a certain amount of planning ahead is a must if you don't want to wait long for the next bus. Not a highlight but I hope it helps. There are also parking spaces and an inn with accommodation and restaurant which I didn't use.
