Lonigo, Province of Vicenza Lonigo is a northern Italian municipality (comune) in the province of Vicenza in Veneto. Lonigo or the district of Bagnolo is located on the Guà. The municipality borders the province of Verona. The municipality is located about 30 kilometers east of Verona and 30 kilometers southwest of Vicenza. The name of the municipality comes from the Roman family Leonici Flavii. The place was referred to as castro leunico and mentioned in documents as early as the 10th century. Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore, Duomo di Lonigo Church of the Holy Savior Cathedral of Lonigo The Cathedral of Lonigo is the parish church dedicated to the Most Holy Redeemer of Lonigo in the province of Vicenza, built between 1877 and 1895 in neo-Romanesque style. The church was built on the site of the city palace, in place of the church of San Marco and the convent of Poor Clares. The idea of building a new church arose at the end of a procession held in 1855 to plead for deliverance from cholera and the need to expand the existing church.
