The asphalt is currently in good condition for a descent. Be careful on the numerous curves, as agricultural vehicles may cause loose dirt or gravel to form on the road surface. Overall, however, the road conditions are acceptable at this time.

At this point along the Santerno, the cycle path crosses the hamlet of Codrignano, in the municipality of Borgo Tossignano. It is especially known for the Garganello festival, a type of pasta of incredible goodness. The festival always takes place between the end of August and the beginning of September.

...the origins of the fortress of Imola date back to 1261, when the municipality decided to build a fortress to defend the city. ... The fortress then had a quadrangular perimeter with nine square towers, four at the corners and four at the center of each curtain wall, plus an entrance tower on the eastern side and a mighty central keep. In the second half of the 15th century, the transformation of the medieval fortress into a new structure capable of withstanding the destructive power of modern artillery began. ... Beginning in 1480, the square corner towers were incorporated into new, thicker circular towers capable of withstanding bombardment, and construction of an internal residence began. The crisis of the Riario-Sforza lordship and the siege of the fortress launched in 1499 by Cesare Borgia, known as Valentino, decreed the return of direct papal rule. ... With the definitive annexation of Imola to the Papal States, the fortress's use as a prison intensified, a situation that continued until 1958, when restoration work began and the Sforza monument was converted into a museum. A singular arch bridge in the municipality of Castel del Rio on the Santerno river, the Alidosi bridge has a single span and was commissioned in 1499 by Obizzo II Alidosi to the architect Andrea Guerrieri. The objective was to symbolize the power and stability of the Alidosi family after the loss of the lordship of Imola. It still connects Castel del Rio to the hamlets that rise on the slopes of Mount Guasteto.

This stretch of secondary road is an alternative through the countryside to connect the area of Sassoleone and Monte La Pieve with the Sillaro valley. The view is pleasant and there is almost no traffic, be careful especially when going downhill because the asphalt is not in the best conditions.
