Lake Brasimone (also known as the Scalere basin and the Brasimone basin) is an artificial lake located in the Bolognese Apennines along the Brasimone stream, in the municipality of Camugnano and is part of the Suviana and Brasimone lakes regional park.

Excellent source of fresh water. The name is due to its proximity to the Via Etrusca del Ferro. This one, dating back to the 4th century. BC, connected the port of Pisa, where the ferrous materials extracted on Elba arrived, with the port of Spina on the Adriatic.

An information table reminds us that the Via Etrusca del Ferro passed through this point. The Via Etrusca del ferro was an Etruscan road dating back to the 6th century BC. It has been defined as a "highway of the distant past". The important artery appears to be the oldest paved road in Europe. This connected the Tuscan coast, near Pisa, where the ferrous minerals extracted on the Island of Elba arrived, with the Adriatic coast towards the port of Spina. It passed through Gonfienti, near Prato and Marzabotto near Bologna.
