뤼텐의 역사적인 성벽... "14세기의 요새는 성벽으로 4개의 성문과 11개의 탑을 연결했습니다. 전체 성벽 길이는 약 3000미터였습니다. 이 요새는 예를 들어 쇠스터 페데(Soester Fehde), 30년 전쟁 또는 영주들이 서로 벌인 전투에서 주민들을 보호하고 강도 기사들을 물리치기 위해 사용되었습니다. 성벽의 폭은 1.20미터에서 1.80미터 사이였고 높이는 약 3.00미터에서 3.50미터였습니다. 성벽의 두께는 위로 갈수록 좁아졌으며, 방어 통로는 관측 및 사격 틈새로 막힌 성가퀴로 보호되었습니다. 산등성이의 절벽으로 보호되지 않고 탁 트인 땅으로 이어지는 지형에서는 이중 해자가 추가로 건설되었습니다. 성벽 요새 중 하흐토르(Hachtor)와 반원형의 헥센투름(Hexenturm), 그리고 성벽의 광범위한 잔해가 보존되었습니다. 오늘날 옛 성벽은 역사적인 도심을 둘러싸는 순환로가 되어 방문을 유도합니다. 뤼텐의 역사와 많은 아름다운 장소가 있는 안스베르거 발트 자연공원에 대한 새로운 시각을 계속 발견하게 될 것입니다. https://www.tourismus-ruethen.de/de/neusta-touren/ruethen-stadtmauerrundgang

The striking 14th-century Witch Tower is one of the most impressive relics of Rüthen's medieval town fortifications. Despite its name, it did not serve as a site for witch trials, but rather as a prison tower for common criminals for centuries. Today, it houses a compelling exhibition on the history of witch persecution in the Sauerland region – a topic that has particularly shaped Rüthen, as more than one hundred people fell victim to the Inquisition here. The exhibition displays replicas of historical interrogation instruments, highlights individual fates such as that of Grete Eickhoff, and commemorates Friedrich Spee and Michael Stapirus, who spoke out against these cruel practices early on, with a bronze relief.
