뫼네 계곡 댐의 보상 연못(보상 저수지라고도 함)은 높이 40미터의 주요 댐 벽 바로 아래에 위치한 0.66백만 m³ 용량의 저수지입니다. 주로 연결된 수력 발전소의 수량을 조절하고 흡수하는 방수로 역할을 합니다. 목적: 댐 하류의 통제되지 않은 변동을 방지하기 위해 뫼네 강으로의 균일한 방수를 위한 완충 저수지. 접근성: 댐 벽 바로 옆에서 자전거 및 하이킹 투어를 시작하기에 인기 있는 장소입니다.

The Möhne Dam was built from 1908 to 1913 and inaugurated on July 12, 1913. In the year of its inauguration, it was the largest dam in Europe. During World War II, the dam was destroyed by a British bombing raid on the night of May 16-17, 1943. The flood, which spread over the Möhne River and deep into the Ruhr Valley, killed nearly 1,600 people. Reconstruction, using the original building materials, was completed on October 3, 1943, with the laying of the road surface on the dam crest.
