If off season, this place is amazing for pitching your tent and enjoying a quiet evening and morning, with really beautiful views pretty much all around. The camp spot is up on the Wolf's Lair route itinerary on bikepacking.com, and visuals on youtube.com/tristanbogaard in the Wolf's Lair episode 1 video. Absolutely worth an overnighter!

Rocca Calascio is a fortress located in Abruzzo, in the province of L'Aquila, in the territory of Calascio, at an altitude of 1 460 meters above sea level. Of medieval origin, it is known for the presence of the castle, one of the highest in Italy, considered one of the symbols of Abruzzo. The fortress, in the center between the Campo Imperatore plateau and those below Navelli and Tirino, is inserted in a context of great landscape value and included in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga national park of which it is one of the main tourist destinations .
