Graffiti – completely legal and colorful – brings more color to Plön's market square. Commissioned by the "Beautiful Plön" initiative (ISP), artist Harald Boigs has transformed three of the city center's drab gray electrical boxes, spray-painting and painting them with architectural motifs of Plön. More are planned.

At the Fegetasche bathing area in Plön, visitors have access to special lounge chairs that have been permanently installed by the town. However, there is no traditional rental service for mobile sun loungers (like on the Baltic Sea coast).

Plön's town bay, located in the northern part of Lake Plön, features lakeside restaurants, a boat landing, and a marina. Plön's town bay has much to offer, most notably the magnificent view of Plön Castle. Along the bay, you'll find numerous restaurants, a beautiful, long lakeside promenade perfect for strolling, and the Marktbrücke landing stage for the Grand Plön Lake Tour. On Eutiner Straße, between the residential area and the sailing club, lies a fishing area with a jetty, an entry point for divers, and a launch and landing area for stand-up paddleboards (SUPs).

The "Great Plön Lake Tour" is a boat trip on the Great Plön Lake that passes by almost all the towns and villages on the lake, offering a complete round trip of approximately two hours. The tour usually starts in Fegetasche in Plön and passes by Prinzeninsel (Prince's Island), as well as the towns of Ascheberg and Dersau. It is one of the most popular excursions in the Holstein Switzerland region and is operated with the MS "Holsteinische Schweiz".

Plön's town bay is a section of the Großer Plöner See (Great Plön Lake) in the north of the town. It is an important recreational area, offering a beach promenade, a marina, restaurants, and a pier for boat trips. Annual highlights include the three-day town bay festival with music and interactive activities, as well as an open-air cinema on the shore.

We visited here in winter. It was very beautiful here, even at this time of year.

Swimming area on the Großer Plöner See (Great Plön Lake) with a sandy beach, playground, and sunbathing lawn. The long, sandy beach is the ideal swimming spot for families. A sunbathing lawn, benches, a hammock, a slide, mini-golf, and a small playground invite you to linger. The water is gently sloping and marked with a non-swimmer's boundary. Shady spots and a jetty into the water are available, as are changing facilities and restrooms.

The large Plön Lake is divided into two basins: the eastern Plön Basin and the western Ascheberg Basin. The small Plön Lake borders it to the north. The shores of the large Plön Lake are wooded, and several bird species can be found on the many islands. A visit to the Princes' Island is highly recommended!
