Church in Milkel. Built in the 14th century, first mentioned in 1322.

The monument erected in honor of Cyril and Methodius underscores the Sorbs' connection with other Slavic peoples. A monument was erected near the historic Via Regia in honor of Cyril and Methodius. These Byzantine scholars and priests from Thessaloniki were the Christian missionaries to the Slavic peoples in the 9th century. For this reason, the two brothers are also called "Apostles of the Slavs." The greatest achievement of the two brothers lies in their emphasis on the Slavic mother tongue and the cultural independence of the Slavic peoples. In the mid-19th century, Pastor Michał Hórnik and his like-minded friends founded the Cyril-Methodius Society. Although it has now been proven that the Sorbs were evangelized by the Diocese of Meissen, the Sorbs continue to venerate Cyril and Methodius. In 2000, the society erected the Millennium Monument at its present location.

The church and cemetery in Milkel are also beautifully designed and worth seeing, a worthy neighbor of the beautifully renovated castle and the former manor house.

There are three Pechelteiche, the small, the lower and the large Pechelteich, separated only by the narrow dam from the large Milkel pond.

In 1908, the Landbank of Berlin took over ownership of Milkel Castle from the Einsiedel family and sold it to the Holnstein family, who extensively renovated the castle and lived there until it was expropriated in 1945. The Holnstein family mausoleum stands next to the Einsiedel family crypt on the Lärchenberg.

The wrought iron bridge in the neo-baroque style dates from 2005 and is therefore quite new as a replacement for the old wooden bridge. The railing has 48 hand-forged roses and shows a stylized image of the castle with its two towers in the middle.

It is probably the largest water basin next to the many, many ponds and is home to many water birds, fish and frogs. The fairly new natural wooden hut has a direct view of the lake and is also great to look at.
