Built in the 17th century, the church is a listed building of significant architectural and local historical importance. The single-nave church in Königswartha was constructed in the 1690s in the Baroque style on the site of the village cemetery. Previously, a Gothic church stood on the site, which was destroyed by fire, and its parts were used in the construction of the new church. The interior was first renovated in 1868, with further work carried out in 1913 and 1955. The exterior of the church was restored in 1895 and again in 1976.

This listed cemetery is one of the most beautiful in the country.

In 1356, with the issuance of the Golden Bull by Emperor Charles IV, towns, including Wittichenau, were granted the right to brew beer. The beer was largely brewed in private, business and trading houses. A joint brewery was founded in 1435. At its peak, 95 citizens in Wittichenau with brewing rights brewed beer in their own homes and sold it in taverns. At the beginning of the 18th century, the communal brewery was built on the market square. This was demolished in 1890 and moved to the existing malt house.
