We initially assumed it was a moat until we read about the city wall.

This is really cute, and a really beautiful round island.

Fortification and technical monument ....

The Holy Sepulcher Chapel is currently being renovated and is therefore unfortunately closed.

This monastery complex is considered the best-preserved in Brandenburg and has been classified as a monument of national importance since 1998. It is really worth visiting this beautiful complex in peace and quiet. Guided tours take place every weekend at 2 p.m. You can also walk through the monastery outside of the guided tours and, for example, B inform via audio guide (save on mobile phone). Opening of the museum and exhibitions Tues-Sun: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Rest area on the high stand - great idea!

There are several places to sit and stand at this rest area. The large refuge has a lot of seats - like a classroom in the forest.

The city fortifications, which encircled the entire old town until the 18th century, consisted of ramparts, ditches filled with water and a city wall. The city wall was broken through by three gates, the Kemnitzer, the Perleberger and the Buchholzer Tor. Around 1738, a start was made on demolishing the ramparts from the 14th century. After the great city fire of 1821, the gates and walls were gradually demolished. The material was used for reconstruction. Where the city wall and ramparts used to enclose the old town, some remains of the ramparts in the green belt of Pritzwalker still bear witness to the Middle Ages. A semi-circular fieldstone watchtower survives in the northern wall.
