A picturesque fortified village in the Alpes-Maritimes perched on a hill overlooking the surrounding landscape and the Loup. Great place to start walks in the area!

This typical little village in the hinterland of Nice overlooks the Var and Estéron valleys. It would be a shame not to visit the religious building in the village. The Saint Benoit church has two magnificent altarpieces dating from the Middle Ages. A well hidden treasure.

Caille is located in a particular plain called a polje. It is a typical phenomenon of karst plateaus, which when they collapse form a flat-bottomed hollow or a large plain, with steep rocks on either side. The plain of Caille is connected to a water table which reappears in the open air in the form of small streams and wetlands. To clean up the lower part of the once marshy plain, man has created channels that lead to an abyss. In Provencal language to name this hole we use the term embut, which means funnel.
