An important place for the residents of Adlershof to breathe fresh air and take a walk.

The bunker mountain on the edge of the Köllnische Heide was an air raid shelter. The reinforced concrete building offered 500 residents protection from Allied bombs during the Second World War. After the war, parts of the bunker were blown up and later covered with earth.

Beautiful park, forest in the middle of Berlin

Nice narrow path through a small piece of forest with some unobstructed views of the Spree. The path is unpaved.

There are a handful of easily accessible bathing spots along this stretch of shore. The gaps between the shady trees are perfect for hammocks! And don't forget: respect the environment, take your rubbish with you and don't break anything :)

The M500 reinforced concrete building offered 500 residents protection from Allied bombs during World War II. After the war, parts of the bunker were blown up and later covered with earth. This actually creates a nice vantage point, if it weren't for the garbage and the undergrowth that grows up and blocks the view.

The Köllnische Heide was originally a strip of forest along the Spree River from Kölln, Berlin's neighboring town, to Coepenick (present-day Köpenick), which was open to the citizens of Kölln as a source of firewood. In 1709, the forest became the property of the city of Berlin. Today, only a small remnant of the same name remains between Adlershof and the Oberspree. It is a pleasant green space for recreation, jogging, and relaxation. The Adlershof cemetery is also located on the edge of the former Köllnische Heide. The present-day Königsheide (King's Heath) between Baumschulenweg and Johannisthal is also a remnant of the former Köllnische Heide.
