The marine settlement in the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf was built between 1938 and 1943 according to plans by the architect Rudolf Kühn. The Paul-Ernst Park is located on the southern shore of the Schlachtensee. The upper area of the park is particularly striking, a well-groomed lawn with flower beds and a memorial stone for the namesake, the writer and journalist Paul Ernst (1866-1933). There is a nice view of the lake from the northern end of the upper section. From there, Paul-Ernst-Park extends down the slope to the lake shore and from there about a kilometer further east to a small peninsula jutting out into the lake. (Source: http://wikimapia.org)
