The wayside shrine "The Spinner" is a well-known, legendary stone cross in the Middle Franconian municipality of Oberdachstetten (Ansbach district). Legend: According to tradition, the maiden Apollonia Hufnagel spun there at midnight despite a warning. The next day, she was found with her neck twisted. Significance: The cross commemorates this gruesome event and is one of the region's landmarks in the Frankenhöhe Nature Park. Hiking: The memorial is situated along popular hiking trails. It is a typical wayside shrine, often also interpreted as a grave marker in connection with the legend.

The Holy Sepulchre was created between 1765 and 1770, was originally located in the chapel of the Teutonic Knights' Castle, and was moved to the parish church of Virnsheim in 1917. It was erected during Holy Week, from Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday, to reenact the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus using theatrical means. Its spatial effect is based on the staggered arrangement of four pictorial levels, which become progressively narrower and taller towards the back. A screen reaching the height of the chancel and covering the altar forms the final element. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, prohibitions and changing tastes led to the near disappearance of these staged tombs. For this reason, multi-part ensembles like this one are very rare. To ensure that our lake, which went into operation in 1980, can continue to reliably fulfill its function as a flood retention basin, it was inspected and renovated by the Ansbach Water Management Office in 2024/2025, and sediment was removed in a joint effort. The flood retention basin is scheduled to be put back into operation in mid-November 2025, so that the target water level should be reached again at the beginning of the 2026 bathing season.
