St. Michael's Church, or the Bergkirche (Mountain Church), as it is also called, is likely the extension of a castle chapel from the 11th or 12th century. The location was likely chosen because burials in the valley, and thus the establishment of a cemetery, were impossible due to the watery, swampy terrain. Legend tells that the Kaubenheimers prepared timber for a church in the valley three times, but the timber was always found on the mountain the following morning, so this was ultimately accepted as a divine sign for the church's location. It is historically documented that in 1529, Pastor Johann Georgi from Hof took up his duties as the first Protestant pastor. The church records begin in 1533. The brass baptismal font from 1559 is still in use today and depicts Adam and Eve in Paradise. All that remains of the old St. Michael's Church is the choir, built beneath the massive church tower (inscription: 1696 C E M Z B - Carl Ernst, Margrave of Brandenburg). Everything else fell victim to a fire caused by lightning on March 21, 1687, at 12:00 noon. Reconstruction lasted from 1695 to 1702. The interior furnishings (pulpit, galleries, altar, and two bells) were completed in 1717. The pulpit was probably acquired from the Ipsheim parish for 20 guilders around 1699. Its previous use is unknown. The 18 canvas paintings in the nave on the gallery parapet were created by the painter Christoph Rösler between 1701 and 1702. They depict biblical stories. This painter also created paintings for the parishes of Ipsheim, Dachsbach, Uehlfeld, Urfersheim, and Wilhermsdorf. A third bell was acquired in 1745 through a donation from schoolmaster Martin Dennler. At the same time, a new organ was installed. In 1722, the sacristy was added to the north side of the church. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Bergkirche received an electricity supply. Its interior renovation took place from 1986 to 1988, while the exterior renovation, including the construction of the church path, took place from 2014 to 2016. The main entrance is now barrier-free. Services are held in the Bergkirche from Easter until the church consecration in October, as well as on Christmas and New Year's Eve. A very beautiful spot in the middle of the forest. The shelter with its bench is lovingly decorated. You can write in a little book if you want to. It's also very quiet here. Great.

A few jumps have been added to the ravine, which is really fun! But it's not without its challenges!

A pleasant trail, S0 to S1. It flows smoothly through the terrain without any difficulties.
